Dr. Armita Akbarnejad
Dr. Armita Akbarnejad is a General Dentist who has been with our office since 2001. She attended California State University Fullerton, where she studied in the field of Biochemistry. She continued her education at the University of California San Francisco Dental School. In 1995, she graduated and received the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Dental Science and Doctor of Dental Surgery. Since then she has concentrated her practice in the field of Pediatrics, Young Adults, and Special Needs Patients. Dr Akbarnejad is a member of the California Dental Association, American Dental Association, and the Alameda Dental Society. Dr Akbarnejad and her husband enjoy spending time with their two young sons.

Dr Alfonse Doan obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from U.C.L.A. School of Dentistry in 2009. He then pursued two additional years of residency training at New York University, College of Dentistry to become a specialist in Pediatric Dentistry. He has also successfully completed a rigorous and optional examination process to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Doan's proudest achievement is his public service to underserved children in local as well as global communities. He organized and actively participated in provision of free dental services to underserved children in the local Orange County and Los Angeles regions, as well as in remote Native-American villages and rural communities in Alaska, Minnesota, and Upstate New York. He also participated in international outreach missions to Honduras-Central America, Malawi- Africa, Nicaragua- Central America, and Vietnam- Asia.
In his spare time, Dr. Doan enjoys running, hiking, camping, snowboarding and many other outdoor activities. He also spends time with his family- which includes nine nieces and nephews who constantly inspire and keep him young at heart.
Dr. Doan is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Sabina Gupta
Dr. Gupta was born in Los Angeles and raised in Augusta, Georgia. She attended The University of Georgia where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with Highest Honors with a B.S. in Microbiology. Dr. Gupta then attended the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry where she received her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2009. Additionally, Dr. Gupta was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, an honors fraternity. After completing dental school, Dr. Gupta completed a two year residency in Pediatric Dentistry at The University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Gupta also obtained a Masters in Oral Sciences where her research focused on addressing dental health during infant well-child visits. Dr. Gupta completed her Board Certification in Pediatric Dentistry and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Additionally, Dr. Gupta is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Southern Alameda County Dental Association. In her spare time, Dr. Gupta enjoys spending time with her husband and their daughter, reading, running, cooking, traveling, and being outdoors. Â
Dr. Gupta is excited to be a part of First Step Dental and looks forward to helping treat children of all ages!
Dr. Juárez
Dr. Juárez (aka "Dr. J") attended San Francisco State University for his undergraduate education while achieving a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and a minor in Chemistry. Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, he entered the University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry in San Francisco to receive his DDS degree. Dr. Juarez continued to advance his knowledge and skill in a General Practice Residency, where he had extensive training with children at the University Medical Center in Fresno.
Dr. J is passionate about creating a positive dental environment for children. He treats every child with the highest quality of care. Being a father of four beautiful girls, he carries the philosophy of treating every child as if they were his own. Dr. J is actively involved in many volunteer events such as "Smiles for Kids" and "Give Kids a Smile", which aid in treating underserved children. In addition, he travels overseas to participate in dental missions as well as other non-dental charity events.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the International Association of Dental Traumatology, the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the California Dental Association and the Sacramento District Dental Society.
